“We are delighted to be collaborating with NYIF to launch innovative and industry-relevant, finance programmes,” said Professor Andrew Clare, Associate Dean, Cass Business School.

This Fall, Cass and NYIF will offer two joint professional certificates in the following core areas of finance: Quantitative Methods for Finance (QMfF) and Fixed Income (FI). Participants can expect an immersive and interactive program taught by Cass' elite faculty that employs realistic simulations and case studies, preparing participants for successful careers in Finance. Both programs are a week long and geared for finance professionals with an aptitude for quantitative disciplines in mathematics, sciences, engineering, and economics. Programs will be open for enrollment in May 2017.

The QMfF professional certificate is scheduled for the week of 16 October 2017 at Cass’ Executive Education facility in the Heart of the City of London. The program is designed to develop the fundamental desk-ready skills essential for quantitative roles in finance, including trading, structuring, valuation, risk management, regulation and financial engineering. Participants will learn the mathematical techniques, Excel tools, VBA programming skills and numerical methods to become proficient in quantitative finance. QMfF certificate holders will also be presented with an enrollment offer to the Chartered Financial Risk Engineer™ (CFRE™) program. The CFRE™ is a professional designation in financial risk management given by NYIF to those who complete an intensive 10-month program and examination.

The FI professional certificate is scheduled for the week of 13 November 2017 at Cass. The program aims to produce skilled individuals in the key areas of fixed income including pricing and valuation of bonds, fixed income instruments and markets, and yield curve analysis. Participants will develop practical, technical and analytical skills to determine fair values, the term structure of interest rates, and yields and risk measures for a wide variety of instruments including government bonds, corporate bonds, mortgage securities and fixed income derivatives. FI certificate holders will earn credit toward the CFRE™ designation.

With increasingly sophisticated technology companies entering and competing in every area of financial services, individuals within the finance industry are forced to adapt to survive the FinTech revolution. On the 14th of June 2017, Cass and NYIF will host a breakfast briefing at the Cass campus for senior HR professionals to discuss the challenges derived from FinTech and plans to address the present skills gap growing in financial services. Lee Arthur, the Managing Director of NYIF, explained the rationale behind the partnership: “Fintech is having real, structural changes on the way capital markets operate. Today, employers find themselves seeking applicants to new types of roles with hybrid requirements mixing finance and technology. Those candidates aren't often easy to find. With Cass, we aim to enable employers and professionals to develop the new Fin+Tech merged skill sets quickly, through our London-based intense certificate programs.”
